November 2014 – Cenizaro Hotels and Resorts announces the appointment of Julian Burton as General Manager at The Residence Zanzibar. A British national raised in Brazil, hospitality veteran Burton comes with a wealth of experience gained from international postings over the past 25 years.

With a strong background in food and beverage, Burton began his hospitality career as a Food & Beverage Supervisor and through the years quickly rose to hold senior positions; with his first General Manager position just seven years into his career as the youngest General Manager for UK’s Macdonald Hotels group. Having worked at an extensive range of hotels from Forte to Starwood, across multi-cultural environments; Burton most recently was Group General Manager of Bluebay Hotels in Zanzibar a position he held since 2009.

A lawyer by training and hotelier by passion, charismatic Burton excels with focused leadership skills; delivering superior business results with his strategic thinking across sales, revenue management, including human resource management; having had led a team of up to 6,000 employees.

In his new role, Burton will oversee the overall management of the 66-villa resort, setting strategic directions for its continued growth and development.

A strong believer in delivering hospitality excellence through exceptional guest experiences; avid diver and certified PADI divemaster, Burton constantly delights his hotel guests with his personalised dive excursions.

Displaying high levels of commitment, expertise and inspirational leadership qualities, this accomplished hotelier will continue to distinguish The Residence by Cenizaro reputation for its distinctive levels ofpersonalised service.

Burton replaces Michel Frederic who takes on a new career milestone after 13 years with the group.
