The Residence by Cenizaro Launches a New Series of ‘Enriching Moments’
January 2014 – The Residence by Cenizaro is offering its guests more personalised experiences than ever before. The long-standing team at each of the four private sanctuaries - in Mauritius, Tunis, Zanzibar and the Maldives - has created a series of Enriching Moments inspired by a new global brand campaign. “A Private Sanctuary, a Home for the Heart” showcases the magic that The Residence brings to guests through its exceptional hotels and personalised services.
Each Enriching Moment represents The Residence by Cenizaro’s philosophy-heartfelt hospitality with a sense of place andwarm, attentive service with personality.Above and beyond the usual expectations from a luxury resort – beautiful pools, crystal clear oceans, a choice of dining and exquisite details –this series of Enriching Moments; whether romantic, adventurous, exciting or indulgent; will create memories to last a lifetime.
Enriching Moment: Explore the dramatic ruins of Carthage, Tunis’ spectacular coastline and the charming, artists village at Sidi Bou Said as part of two, new walking tours offered by The Residence Tunis. In a bid to encourage wellbeing as well as learning, the hotel’s award-winning spa has ‘upped the ante’ ensuring that these brisk tours will get the blood racing and increase fitness, whilst informing guests about the country’s fascinating history.
Half day tours cost from €120 for up to three guests.
Where: On a private stretch of beach along the Mediterranean coastline, 20 minutes from the centre of Tunis and its historic Medina.
What: The Residence Tunis is a stunning example of Arab-Andalucían architecture with 155 rooms and 9 suites, all of which are sea-facing with private balconies. Home to The Residence Tunis Golf Course - a magnificent, if challenging, par 72 course designed by Robert Trent Jones II set in the heart of a natural reserve and the first and largest Thalassotherapy centre in Tunisia, Les Thermes Marins de Carthage.

Enriching Moment: In partnership with one of Africa’s leading photographers, Paul Joynson-Hicks, MBE, who is renowned for his East African landscapes and wildlife shots, The Residence Zanzibar is offering The Spice Island’sfirst three-day photography course. This exclusive experience takes guests on a journey as Paul teaches the vital skills of photography with the opportunity to capture the colours and beauty of this tropical island, its famed architecture and abundant flora and fauna. Tutorials can be arranged for individuals or groups and run for three days.
Photography Moments costs from US$1,250 per person, per day and includes all car transfers, boat rental and entrance fees to selected sites i.e. Stone Town’s House of Wonder, Persia Baths, Bihole Ruins, Prison Island and local spice farms.
Where:On the southwest of Zanzibar, an hour’s drive the capital Stone Town (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). The hotel is on a 32 hectare private estate along a kilometre stretch of stunning coastline flanked by coconut palms.
What:Each of the 66 villas has its own swimming pool, private sun terrace and either garden or ocean views. The Residence Zanzibar offers complimentary non-motorised water sports, excursions to explore the wonders of the Spice Island and a range of exceptional treatments at the Spa. Enriching Moment: The island of Mauritius has been ranked by the International Union for Conservation of Nature as having the third highest amount of endangered flora in the world, with around 200 of the 315 endemic plant species under threat. The Residence Mauritius is now offering guests the chance to discover more about the indigenous plant life, the reasons why it is so severely threatened, and what is being done to save species from extinction. Accompanied by an expert from the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation, guests will be discover the tiny coral island of Ile aux Aigrettes, a protected reserve that harks back to the Mauritius of 400 years ago, before the arrival of man.Guests will also discover MWF’s remarkable collection of endemic flora and fauna, found nowhere else in the world, as well as catching glimpses of the rare pink pigeon, endangered skinks and of course the giant tortoise.
Where: On the east coast of Mauritius, along one of the island’s most beautiful beaches and set within 25 acres of tropical gardens
What: A sophisticated haven of colonial charm. The 163 spacious guestrooms and suites each have their own private balcony or terrace. The hotel has three restaurants, a sports club that offers a range of complimentary activities and a kids club that goes the extra mile.

Enriching Moment: For couples looking for absolute privacy and seclusion in the Maldives, The Residence Maldives has the perfect solution with its new, exclusive Castaway Island experience. Couples will be whisked off to Koduhutta Island, a deserted islet that is only accessible by dingy or kayak. Guests can enjoy a day of sunbathing and snorkelling as well as a picnic on the beach, arranged by The Residence’s expert butlers or, a private romantic dinner on the beach, surrounded by candles with just the moonlight and ocean for company.
A visit to the Castaway Island is complimentary for all Residence Maldives guests. A picnic basket for two costs from $150 per person. An evening private dining costs from US$500 per person.
Where: On the unspoilt southern island of Falhumaafushi in the Gaafu Alifu atoll, which is part of one of the largest and deepest atolls in the Maldives, Huvadhoo. The Residence Maldives is near Kooddoo airport, a 55-minute flight south from Malé. It is 13-miles north of the Equator.
What: The hotel opened in September 2012 with 94 exquisite beach and water villas, which offer endless ocean views and epitomise traditional Maldivian architecture.
