BIG ADVENTURES FOR LITTLE EXPLORERS

THE RESIDENCE MALDIVES - For nemo lovers
Crystal-clear waters and marine life are top of the agenda in the Maldives. Perfectly placed on one of the largest and deepest atolls, The Residence Maldives has some of the best and most remote diving in the world. But it’s not just for the adults; the resort’s very own PADI 5-Star Dive Centre has a variety of classes and excursions for the little ones to more experienced divers. Rich in marine life, the Gaafu Alifu atoll is home to over 1,200 species of fish and multi coloured coral.
For water babies, the hotel is on hand with snorkelling equipment to explore the nearby reef where families can spot eagle rays, green turtles and parrotfish. The calm sea makes the Maldives one of the greatest adventure playgrounds - sail a catamaran, speed through the water on a kayak or attempt to balance while windsurfing.

THE RESIDENCE MAURITIUS - For the junior foodies
Mauritius is a firm favourite for families, from the beautiful scenery of powdery white-sand beaches to lush rainforests to the sparkling sea – all made easy with a direct flight and no jet lag affecting the family.
The Residence Mauritius introduces a gourmet experience to tickle the taste buds of younger guests. The experience includes:
• A guided tour of the Marche de Flaq, taking in the sights and sounds of amazing fresh seafood, the countless varieties of tea and tropical fruits and vegetables
• A trip to L’Aventure de Sucre museum to learn about the history of sugar (much of the island’s agricultural land is still devoted to the cultivation of sugar cane)

THE RESIDENCE TUNIS - For the culturally inquisitive
The smallest country in Africa, Tunisia packs perfect Mediterranean weather, beautiful beaches and the relics of more than three thousand years of history into one incredible place. Just half-an-hour from the ancient city of Tunis on a private stretch of beach, the opportunities for children to learn about the country’s culture and history are endless.
Explore the dramatic ruins of Carthage, the historic Medina of Tunis – one of eight UNESCO Heritage Sights – and the charming 13th century village of Sidi Bou Said, recognisable for its blue and white houses, wrought iron sculpted doors and the Ennajma Ezzara Palace.
Back at the hotel, kids can ride a camel on the beach, watch a belly dancer whirl to the sounds of North African music or taste one of the local delicacies – all in the name of mini exploration.
A Tunis Little Explorers Package includes a half day trip to Carthage and Sidi Bou Said, a camel ride and complimentary access to the kid’s club. Prices start from 140 Euros (approx. £126) per child. THE RESIDENCE BINTAN - For the creatives
The Residence Bintan is just a 55-minute ferry journey from Singapore and is found on the largest island of the Riau Archipelago.
Bintan’s history traces back to the 3rd century where the island flourished as a trading post on the route between China and India, resulting in beautiful design from cultures including Chinese, British, Indian and Dutch.
For little ones with a fondness for art, families can explore the island’s history and take a stroll through the bustling street markets to seek exotic Indonesian handicrafts such as beautiful batiks. Next, a trip to Senggarang Village for a fun day of sightseeing with fascinating glimpses into the rich Chinese heritage of the Riau Archipelago. Among its captivating fishing village with stilt houses, are a collection of Chinese temples dating back to the 17th century, with remarkably maintained intricate sculpture and paintings. Kids can return to the hotel full of ideas and try replicating the paintings for themselves.
To round off the day, kids can create their own artwork back at the hotel at the Kakatu Kids Club. From batik and bird house painting, t-shirt dying, face painting, wayang making and henna tattoos – there is an activity for everyone.

THE RESIDENCE ZANZIBAR - For nature lovers
On the southwest coast of Zanzibar, just 55km from the capital of Stone Town, The Residence Zanzibar is an oasis for families of all ages set along an expansive stretch of beach, flanked by coconut palms.
When it comes to nature, Zanzibar is rich with exotic wildlife. Families can encounter the treasures of the Jozani Forest, perfect for a day trip, to see the home of the rare and endangered Red Colobus Monkey. The forest and large mangroves are home to a variety of species and are the perfect place to spy Sykes monkeys, colourful butterflies and bright birds.
Only a 30-minute boat ride from the hotel is the small island of Changuu, also known as Prison Island. Explore the ruins of the old prison, built in 1893, before making your way to the beach where families can interact with the gentle, giant tortoises lazing on the soft sand – some over a century old!
Kids can also explore closer to home at the hotel’s own banana plantation, bird sanctuary and mini-farm – home to rabbits, cows and donkeys.
