July 2021: The Residence Maldives Introduces Earth Basket

The Residence Maldives launches Earth Basket as part of Cenizaro Hotels & Resort’s Cenizaro Cares Programme, their global commitment to sustainability. Earth Basket is a place that showcases the resort’s sustainability efforts in reducing consumption, produce locally and support communities and ecosystems. Flourishing with fruit, herbs and vege-tables, the Earth Basket is the resort’s very own organic farm boasting many different types of herbs and vegetables from simple basil leaves to Malabar spinach, cucumber or eggplants.

The Earth Basket is more than an initiative, it is a transformative experience that brings one closer to nature by indulging in sustainable development and earth-friendly agriculture. The vision be-hind this initiative goes beyond the boundaries of food and agriculture and the team’s aim is to reduce their carbon footprint and reliance on imports whilst creating a sustainable and interactive experience for guests.

Creating an educational experience for both adults and children, guests are invited to join tours of the organic gardens. Teaching all visitors about the cycle of farming, the tour includes animal feeding, compost making and a herb infused beverage tasting as well as a tour of the herb garden and plant nursery. Families will be encouraged to touch, smell and taste the farm delights on an edible adventure. Earth Basket also displays scientific, yet practical facts and figures, raising awareness and sharing information to persuade people to modify their daily behaviour and incor-porate more sustainable practices. Priced at 15 USD per person, the tour will be available every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday from 3pm to 4pm.

Cooking classes at the Earth Table will also be available, teaching visitors how to grow and cook sustainably. With prices starting from 100USD per person for a three course feast plus a beverage, participates will have the opportunity to pick fresh produce from the garden and turn them into mouthwatering dishes during a personal session with the chef.
